And at last...
Morbid Templar (morbid.deceit): Welcome to Gacha show everybody. Today we have Apple Fall. Best known as King of shaby chic. Lets get started.
Apple Fall (warehousefifteendesigns): hello :) lovely to be here. thanks for having me!
Morbid Templar (morbid.deceit): What brought you to Second Life? Why did u even log in?
Apple Fall (warehousefifteendesigns): i was working at the time on the sims 3 with a few close friends. And one of my friends ana said, hey, have you seen second life? and sure i'd heard of it. but i hadn't ever seen the need to log on. i had read up about creating possibilities and read up about prims and sculpties and such but it didn't really appeal to me, as, at the time, i was and had been meshing for some years and felt i might have been taking a step backwards. so, for a couple of months we decided to just carry on doing work for the sims. linden labs announced (finally) mesh support 2 months after we had originally looked into the prospect of moving here
Morbid Templar (morbid.deceit): so long ago...
Apple Fall (warehousefifteendesigns): yes, in terms of creating sculpties. which still now seems confusing to me
Morbid Templar (morbid.deceit): So what did you creat in Sims?
Apple Fall (warehousefifteendesigns): mostly the same as what i do here now. i was mostly furniture, although i drew a lot of my own (what they brand) 'patterns' and such. some clothing, some hairs. but the hairs and clothing didn't massively appeal to me
Morbid Templar (morbid.deceit): Do you still play Sims we may want to stalk you there?
Apple Fall (warehousefifteendesigns): oh no that ship has long since sailed. i barely have enough time to achieve what i want in here
ɥsnןq (blush.topaz): we'll just stalk you here
Apple Fall (warehousefifteendesigns): i'll rez a stalking area at my store x_x
ɥsnןq (blush.topaz): lol
Morbid Templar (morbid.deceit): When did you start creating and what was the first item you can remember making?
Apple Fall (warehousefifteendesigns): the first item i can remember making as a full finished product is the new york apartment. and that was / is also still one of my largest selling product. which is unbeliavable as i would NOT rez it, ha! to answer your earlier question ^^
Morbid Templar (morbid.deceit): When did you create your brand?
Apple Fall (warehousefifteendesigns): that was decided before i joined. i knew from the outset that SL for me would most likely be a business venture (if any, at the time). yes. i had been with the sims since 2006 and had been playing since '01, so it was definitely time for me to look into other fields
Morbid Templar (morbid.deceit): What aspect of creating product in SL is the most fun for you? What problems u faced? Why ur here still with us?
Apple Fall (warehousefifteendesigns): it is very enjoyable. the most different aspect i suppose of creating mesh for SL as opposed to the sims is, in this world you can live amongst what you create, so to speak, and interaction with customers, fans and such is very direct, 1:1 personal. this is different with the sims where it was a website interface, there wasn't any real interaction or feedback from the people who were using my products and it felt impersonal. there is much more physical contact here, in the sense that i feel that what i create can be used real-time, and sometimes people can be genuinely happy to receive a rare from my machine, for example. there's no feeling like it
Morbid Templar (morbid.deceit): Where do you get your ideas from primarily? Do U use referensies form rl much? How u create your style?
Apple Fall (warehousefifteendesigns): i use references a lot. i myself like to observe people, lives, things moving constantly in the world. there are emotions, feelings, stories and history everywhere you look. and what i try to achieve is to freeze frame a moment in time. an emotion, a feeling, a memory. and that mostly is in texture build up, using as realistic reference,s proportions and settings as possible. and yes, i agree. to some level it is corporate, because obviously money is involved
Apple Fall (warehousefifteendesigns): with gacha especially i think it's important to not lose sight of what's most important. and that's a happy customer clutching your rare, feeling happy and inspired to create something with it. and it is always, always quality over quantity in my eyes. yes, and i think again it's easy if you allow it to lose track of what's important. i personally try to make my machines priced accordingly with how many items are in it. it's about customer enjoyment 100%. i think that making rares extremely hard to get. yes i feel there's no enjoyment in that
Morbid Templar (morbid.deceit): What skill set in the building process has been the most difficult for you to learn so far? Did u struggle alone in sl? was it easy for u?
Apple Fall (warehousefifteendesigns): yes, at first it's always hard to grasp a new program. and i will shamelesly admit that i used to follow people around in sandboxes asking silly questions. and getting griefed and not being sure why someone was shooting giant strawberries at me. it's an easy concept once you know the ropes. learning how to use prims i didn't think was essential at the time so i underestimated the amount of learning it would take. and making a prim is easy i guess but texture repeats, everything that's basically specific to the SL interface. was at the time hard to learn. being used to the sims for around 10 years. and i still learn stuff. i feel that my knowledge on the SL viewer is still basic as i just have learned what i needed to upload a mesh, texture it, move it around and etcetera. ask me to manage an estate or move peoples' roles around in groups and i'm crippled
Morbid Templar (morbid.deceit): Do you have any goals for yourself/ New techniques to learn or perfect?
Apple Fall (warehousefifteendesigns): yes, i have touched briefly on making my own animations and have enjoyed it a lot. i definitely want to build up some more of those to make my items more unique in that sense. and i have been picking up zbrush recently which i have had for a long time but never had the opportunity or window of time to fully immerse myself in learning the program. but taking the decision to drop out of a few events and giving myself more time to entertain my thoughts and itches has definitely proven beneficial. instead of just going through the motions of chainsmoking events. oh it's something i definitely have planned. i am currently in the process of moving the apple fall mainstore onto its own dedicated sim. it's currently a lagfest and i, myself find it hard to mvoe there
Morbid Templar (morbid.deceit): All by itself?
Apple Fall (warehousefifteendesigns): yes
Luke Templar (lucius.templar): ooooo
Apple Fall (warehousefifteendesigns): i am still keeping the current sim as a community project with neva and the others. but apple fall is getting it's own dedicated sim. it's being designed in a british countryside theme. and i'm making lots of new mesh for it :)
Luke Templar (lucius.templar): Ooooooo
Second part of interview is dedicated to fans questions.
Morbid Templar (morbid.deceit): Hello Akiko Thursday! Welcome to the Gacha Show , what is our question!
Akiko Thursday: First, thank you, Apple, what you said about capturing a moment really struck a chord, because the objects you make really do give rise to a certain nostalgia. And to the questions - always with the technical for me. You answered a bit of this with zbrush, but what software and hardware do you prefer to create with?
Apple Fall (warehousefifteendesigns): thank you akiko :) zbrush is the latest venture. my primary meshing program is 3d studio max paired with vray. i also use photoshop for texturework and lightroom is my total crutch - i love filters. my hardware is current an imac. which is somewhat defeatist as 3ds max isn't readily available for OS X as of yet, so i am on windows, on the mac, 99% of the time. i also swear by wacom for their graphic tablets. it's like my third hand
Akiko Thursday: Ohh, those mesh programs are not ones I'm familiar with! Thank you so much for your answer! aaand thank you for being RAD!
Morbid Templar (morbid.deceit): Hello Giα (gia.swizzle), Welcome to the Gacha Show, what is your question?
Giα (gia.swizzle): Hey thanks. First I would like to say that your comment earlier about Quality over Quantity is so true and you definitely exhibit this with your Creations that I and so many adore. My Question is..... I was an avid Sims player as well. However, I got into The Sims Online which is what brought me into Second Life about 7 years ago. Did you ever hear of or play in The Sims Online (TSO)?
Apple Fall (warehousefifteendesigns): yes, and i feel they abandoned the concept too early. they could have taken it a long way
Giα (gia.swizzle): Yes! They were trying to bring it back
Apple Fall (warehousefifteendesigns): i guess they somewhat brought it back in the sims 3. but it's not the same
Giα (gia.swizzle): True
Apple Fall (warehousefifteendesigns): yes, i heard they were trying to revive it. i think in these times with the internet being more important than it was back then, it should work a lot better. but i feel it will just be something else for me to get addicted to >_<
Giα (gia.swizzle): Yea you could
Apple Fall (warehousefifteendesigns): yeah if the sims and SL had a baby it would have been the sims online was perfection
Giα (gia.swizzle): Apple, remember the pet breeding?! Those were the days. Haha. First Rares in virtual platform
Apple Fall (warehousefifteendesigns): oh lordy those really were the times :D i miss playing the sims 1 it definitely was the best of all of the reincarnations of the game
Morbid Templar (morbid.deceit): Hello Kimmie Banufong, Welcome to the Gacha
Show, what is your question?
Apple Fall (warehousefifteendesigns): because this is my main account, and i
don't use any alternative accounts i don't have much of a slife outside of the
store, i am 'on call' 24/7 for customer requests and such when not meshing. i
like to get out and see the architecture in SL now and again. i'm very much a
person who gets inspired by what's going on around me. the fact that the SL
world is created by just people like us is just endlessly fascinating to me. and yes, i used to be into RPing in the
early days. bloodlines, vampires and such, although
the time to do those kind of things is now used to work. and i adore bay city ^^ art deco. i meshed a castle for the boys haha and it was efinitely unique that's for sure. although i think it's in the abyss now
Thea (theadee): Thank you for the answer and for all the awesome things ㋡
Morbid Templar (morbid.deceit): Hello Fukuju Amaterasu. Welcome to the Gacha Show, what is your question?
Fukuju Amaterasu: Hello, Apple. I see from your profile that you have an
adorable furry side; I see from your work that you create toward realism. Is
there perhaps a chance of us seeing your whimsical side in a future set?
Apple Fall (warehousefifteendesigns): i am into fantasy and otherworldly /
surrealism and into exploring different channels, personalities and such which
is definitely easy to do in sl. i have considered opening a fantasy
offshoot although it's that age-old issue of time again and finding the
opportunity to do that. although i am in one of the opcoming rounds
of we <3 RP
ɥsnןq (blush.topaz): that would be
awesome
Apple Fall (warehousefifteendesigns): so i think that's a prime opportunity to
explore something new :) i enjoyed making the staves it was very
fresh and different and i think i needed that, at the time, to refresh my view
on sl
Morbid Templar (morbid.deceit): Hello Calamity Tan , welcome to the Gacha Show!
What is your question?
Calamity Tan (tania.bikcin): hulo apple if u would create smthg else than
furniture what it would be?
Apple Fall (warehousefifteendesigns): it would be fashion. i studied it in
college and i am addicted to it in rl. i get caught totally in the moment when
it comes to shopping, and i love the world of high fashion. and i collect hermes scarves in real
life, religiously
namrah Fralto (nieandera): You would be very supported here in SL if you did
that :)
Apple Fall (warehousefifteendesigns): a few small tasks ahead of me
Fukuju Amaterasu: Morbid will handle your calendar.
Ðαят (dartanion.nightfire): *chains Apple to SL* so much to do
Apple Fall (warehousefifteendesigns):am i supposed to keep a calendar? ^^ apple time is very different from
anything even related to real time. moves at its own speed
Laika Karillion: lol
Hendrix Portal: peanut butter Apple time
Luke Templar (lucius.templar): does that mean you need an apple watch?
Morbid Templar (morbid.deceit): Hello Charlotte Bailey, welcome to the Gacha
Show! What is your question?
Charlotte Bailey: Hi Apple :-) Love love love your items. Here's my question:
Ouf of all the gachas, you've made... which one are you the most proud of?
Apple Fall (warehousefifteendesigns): i am most proud of the... (i cant
remember the name of it). the one with the paris loft. and fashion / photography décor. how the set came together as a whole
Ẏαẕẕ
(yazz.skytower): vintage paris
Apple Fall (warehousefifteendesigns): thanks yazz :D
Apple Fall (warehousefifteendesigns): i gave myself a lot of time to make
details for it, more time than usual
Morbid Templar (morbid.deceit): Hello Luke, welcome to the Gacha Show! What is
your question?
Luke Templar (lucius.templar): I want to know which sex sim Apple Fall goes to
and does he like it.
Apple Fall (warehousefifteendesigns): apple doesn't go for sex, sex comes to
Apple. and that's all you need to know for now
Morbid Templar (morbid.deceit): Hello Ami Tamura, welcome to the Gacha Show!
What is your question?
Ami
Tamura: hi apple! Where did you come up with your SL name "Apple Fall"?
Apple Fall (warehousefifteendesigns): hey ami :) it's actually a total coincidence
Peri (perissa.caproni): Thanks Ami was wondering that too
Apple Fall (warehousefifteendesigns): my alias in the sims, was apple. because one day over skype i was
obnoxiously eating a juicy apple. and i guess making all kidns of noise. (luke might have enjoyed it). because one day over skype i was
obnoxiously eating a juicy apple. so they just coined the name, apple for
me. and when i married my SL husband. his last name is Fall. Aedian fall. so i then became, apple fall
Sangi Phaeton: Morbid can we keep him (Apple?)
Apple Fall (warehousefifteendesigns): i'm not saying i wouldn't put up a fight,
but jolly ranchers and a few cats might affect my resistance
Morbid Templar (morbid.deceit): Hello Maeve Kilara-Bade, Welcome to the GaCHA
Show , what is your question!
Maeve Kilara-Bade (maeve.kilara): Hi Apple. My friend Hap ADORES you btw lol.
Anyways, I was hoping to ask, if time and resources were limitless, what would
your vision be for your impact in SL?
Apple Fall (warehousefifteendesigns): if time was limitless i would for sure
learn to mesh every kind of everything. even some fancy hats for morbid. although the one she has on atm is hard
to beat
Luke Templar (lucius.templar): why morbid? :[
Apple Fall (warehousefifteendesigns): it's a hard one to answer pricesily.
Ðαят (dartanion.nightfire): Mesh me Mesh Me!
Apple Fall (warehousefifteendesigns): oh god the rest of my life begins today. i am dreading this one. i have a few ideas i hope it's none of them. sorry im distracted.
Morbid Templar (morbid.deceit): Hello Return of the Meggings (evankeel),
Welcome to the Gacha Show , what is your question!
Return of the Meggings (evankeel): Hello Apple Fall, love your things and
stuff.... but what I want to know is: What do you think of Morbid's
anti-semitic views? Do you feel comfortable sitting close by her when you could
be part of another race/belief system/religion which she frowns upon?
Apple Fall (warehousefifteendesigns): i have a few people on standby in case
she decides to move this way a little bit. always prepared
Morbid Templar (morbid.deceit): Hello Callipygian Christensen, Welcome to the
Gacha Show , what is your question!
Callipygian Christensen laughs - Calli is fine
Luke Templar (lucius.templar): purposely put that question forwards just to
hear her say the name
Callipygian Christensen: Love your stuff Apple..my bank account or lack of one
proves that :) Some creators retire their gachas, some retire some of them..you
do not. Is there a particular reason for that?
Apple Fall (warehousefifteendesigns): if some people can cope with the guilt of
depriving the gacha community of access to the items that is good
Return of the Meggings (evankeel): you're too young to retire
Apple Fall (warehousefifteendesigns): but i cannot >_< i tried and it's
just too much
TymeForGachaAgain: im glad he dont retire cause theres stuff i wants to buy
next week
Callipygian Christensen laughs.
Apple Fall (warehousefifteendesigns): i lost a lot of my first gacha machine. and i still receive heartbroken IMs about
it. it makes me feel so guilty ^^
ѕυgαявαву (lilbit.blessed): awww
Callipygian Christensen: thank you for taking the question :)
Ami
Tamura: which one is that? D:
Apple Fall (warehousefifteendesigns): it's the one with the tetris machine. photo booth and etc
Sangi Phaeton: ::::makes sign of the gacha:::: we absolve you of your guilty my
son
Apple Fall (warehousefifteendesigns): and the 'not legos'. care to share hendrix ^. it's scattered and mostly deleted from my
own inv.
Apple Fall (warehousefifteendesigns): hope you all enjoy the gift :) you're all amazing for showing up <3
and thanks for not falling asleep. <3 hearts for everyone. and thanks morbid and luke for having me
:D
